Wood Street Family Fun Day is on 15 June – do you want to get involved?

On Saturday 15 June part of Wood Street will be given over to the Wood Street Family Fun Day, organised by local people with support from Waltham Forest Council. The Fun Day, part of a Borough-wide series of ‘Love Your High Street’ events, is set to attract hundreds of people to the area, with stalls, activities and entertainments, both on the Plaza and in Wood Street itself.

Moving image artwork comes to Wood Street tonight (and this weekend)

Open signTonight (Weds 20 March) sees the premiere screening of THE QUEST FOR BRONZE TANNING, a new moving image artwork by Verity Jane Keefe. It runs from 6:30 – 9 pm at the 14th Walthamstow Scout Hall, 205a Wood Street E17 (note that this is the quieter end of Wood Street, between the train station and Chestnut Avenue North, quite close to the Pig and Whistle pub.)

There will be further matinee screenings at the same venue on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th March 2013 from 2.00 p.m. – 6.00 p.m.

Hi fabulous followers and friends-

It’s happening. Today, the Directors of Significant Seams are emptying 131 Wood Street thanks to our fabulous pro bono architect –  a leading UK architect in the world of regeneration who happens to live in Walthamstow – and our calm and reassuring builder – owner of a major national shop fitting company, that also happens to be based in Walthamstow, in order to hand over the keys to them to make the place ready for you and us to decorate and create the first inclusive community space in Eastern Walthamstow. Your inputs, advice and suggestions have helped us devise a quite fabulous plan for the space, and the labour of many of you has helped start to create the furnishings too.

But the pressure is on. We’ve raised £23,100 against the original £20,000 we estimated we needed… and in the meantime, we atttracted some amazing LOCAL…
