Wood Street First are working along with the Lake of Stars Charity event in Wood Street on Saturday 10th March 2018.
This will be an amazing day of African arts and crafts, African drumming and singing performances and workshops with Mbilla Arts drummers and singers from West Africa.
Special guest – Ghanaian acrobat – Nii Blackwonder will also be joining us for the parade and performances. Definitely don’t miss it! The arts & crafts will take place in Woodside Primary Academy (Forest Road Site).
Here is the timetable for the free event – just drop in.
10.00 : 13.00 African arts and crafts – make an African necklace or mask.
13.00 : 14.00 Parade preparation (all welcome to come and dress up in African costumes, choose hand percussion and warm up with musicians)
14.00 : 14.15 African drumming parade.
14.45 : 15.30 African drumming workshop.
15.45 : 16.15 African singing & rhythm workshop.
16.15 : 17.00 African drumming workshop Wood Street First and African Diaspora Kids.
We will also be hosting a market and other crafts and storytelling activities in the school playground during the day (including food and other play activities (weather permitting).
