The good news is that, after a long wait, the refurbished Wood Street Plaza park and play area will be re-opened on Saturday 12th 19th April 2014. Please note the date change!
And the even better news is: Wood Street First’s events committee is organising a party from 12 noon to 3pm to celebrate!
The official ceremonials will be performed by clown, balloonist and magician Uncle Rabbie (star of several recent Wood Street Plaza celebrations). Rabbie will be joined by mascots Minnie & Mickey.
All children at the opening ceremony will get a free Easter Egg.
There will also be children’s competitions for Easter art and fancy dress. Update 8 April: sorry, the art competition has been cancelled. For the Easter art competition, children under 12 can bring along a picture, or draw one at the party itself – there are some great prizes to be won. In the fancy dress competition, children under 12 are invited to come along in a fancy dress costume of their choosing. There are £30 of Argos vouchers to be won.
Other attractions include:
- Music
- Table top sale by local charity Significant Seams
- Cake stall
- Craft and soft play activities
- Free tea/coffee for grownups
- B.B.Q & salad stall
- Street entertainers
- Free gifts and goodies
- *New addition* Cycle marking
Alongside the festivities, a group of local architects will be launching a Wood Street Ward development design project.
So come along on 12th 19th April from 12 noon – 3 pm and help us to celebrate, and to shape, the community spaces we all share. And feel free to download a Plaza Park Poster [pdf file], print it out and spread the news.
