The running order for the main stage of the 15 June Wood Street Family Fun Day has been announced, bringing together experienced performers with rising stars – and every one has local connections. Read the schedule below.
We are also pleased to announce that car parking will be free at the Brandon Road car park, with a maximum limit of 3 hours for the event. Though if you can, why not walk, cycle or take public transport? Local people will be grateful, and so will the planet.
We also have an event poster for you – in pdf format. See the bottom of this post for an image. Please display and share this anywhere you think it will grab people’s attention.
Sponsored walk postponed
On a less upbeat note, we are sorry to say that the sponsored walk has had to be postponed. The event has had some unexpected challenges, including the collapse of one of our main suppliers. This has forced the organising committee to look again at the event’s activities, finances and budget. As a result, the committee decided to postpone the walk and to focus our efforts on making sure the main events in and around the Plaza are a success. As soon as we have firm plans about the sponsored walk they will be announced here. The committee apologizes for any disappointment.

And if that is not enough, there will be more entertainment on offer from a marquee and stage in Brandon Road, featuring an inclusive programme of Asian art, music, dance, fashion and food to celebrate the diversity of South Asian art and culture within the community. Including Fahad Khalid – a musician and composer playing funky eastern folk/jazz on guitar with cello and tabla; Henna Gold – artist; poetry, and more.
