The team taking forward the Marlowe Road and Wood Street Plaza redevelopment will be at this Saturday’s Christmas Fayre to share their latest plans for the estate and the Plaza, and to hear your concerns and views.
Developers Countryside and Stitch Architects were recently appointed to take forward the project. As well as the phased demolition and rebuilding of the Marlowe Road estate, it will also lead to new buildings nearby and a new footprint, layout and design for the Plaza and the space around Northwood Tower. Following an approach from Wood Street First, supported by the local Business Forum, representatives from the development team and the Council and Ascham Homes will be staffing a stall at the event.
Our community once again got together to celebrate the reopening of the play park in the Wood Street Plaza on 19 April. Here are some reminders (or perhaps a flavour of what you missed).
It all began quietly.
There will be a consultation event this Wednesday (23rd Jan 2013) about the proposals to make further improvements to the Wood Street Plaza and playground. The meeting will be at Bonito’s Cafe (formerly Carter’s) on the Plaza, Wood Street, E17, from 6 to 8 pm.
A previous post on this site gave information about the plans and consultation, which is being carried out for London Borough of Waltham Forest. The improvements are being funded by the Outer London Fund from the Mayor of London.
London Borough of Waltham Forest is now consulting on proposals to provide further improvements to the Wood Street Plaza and playground. The Council and East Architecture are now inviting your views from 17 December 2012 until 25 January 2013.
These improvements are part of the Outer London Fund. This fund, alongside funding from Transport for London, has already enabled public realm improvements to be made to the length of Wood Street and the Plaza.
